Trusting God’s Direction Through Loss

Subtitle: A Journey of Faith, Purpose, and Eternal Hope

Author: DeCarmen Mitnaul

Trusting God's Path—Even in Pain

It isn’t always easy to understand the direction in which God is leading us. Life often takes unexpected turns, especially when pain, loss, and sorrow enter the picture. But even in the darkest valleys, I’ve learned that trusting the Lord’s vision is essential to living a life filled with purpose, peace, and eternal hope.

When God took my daughter home, it shattered my heart in a way I never imagined. It was a journey no mother wants to take—but it was also a journey where God’s comfort became immeasurable. Through my grief, I discovered a deeper level of intimacy with the Lord. I came to know Him not just as a Savior, but as the God who sits with us in sorrow, carries us through loss, and reveals beauty from the ashes.

A Life of Purpose—Revealed Through Pain

From a young age, I’ve always sensed that my life had a purpose. I’ve endured too much to believe otherwise. Every time I walked through something painful, God would eventually reveal why it was necessary. I’ve come to see that some people have to go through so they can help others get through. And now, I know—without a doubt—that my ministry is for people who are grieving.

Over this past year, I’ve watched God use my story, my book, my paintings, and my voice to bring healing to others. When I share my testimony, people often tell me their faith is renewed. Those who’ve lost a loved one—whether a parent, friend, child, or unborn baby—have told me that hearing my story brought them peace. It put their minds at ease to know that their loved ones are with the Lord. It’s a powerful reminder: in God, there are no losses.

The Promise of Heaven

To leave this earth is to be reunited in heaven with our Father. Jesus said in John 5:24,“Whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment but has passed from death to life!”

If we know Jesus—if we believe He is the Son of God—then we will see our loved ones again.

Death is not the end. It is the beginning of eternal life. It's not something to be feared, but rather something to be celebrated. In John 6:51, Jesus says,“He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them at the last day.”

This means that those who have died in Christ are not gone—they are only at rest, waiting for the resurrection. This is the revelation God gave me when He gave me the title for my book, While You Were Sleeping. No one is truly dead in Christ. Their body is simply asleep until the last day.

His Plan Is Better

Even in the valley of grief, God reveals purpose. What felt like loss became a calling to bring healing and hope to others. In Him, nothing is wasted.”

With love, grace, and unwavering hope,
